Prism Sound and John Paul Jones an evolutionary tale
John Paul Jones legendary bass guitarist with Led Zeppelin recently upgraded his Pro-tools mix system to HD with a little help from Prism Sound. Jones’s hits with Led Zeppelin including "Whole Lotta Love", "Stairway to Heaven", "Dazed and Confused" and "Kashmir" have made him a legend in the music community. He is now a well-respected artist in his own right with many releases under his belt including his latest release “The Thunderthief”.
Jones’s association with Prism Sound started when he went searching for a Stereo set of converters to use on a solo album project. He was so impressed that when it came to upgrade his multi track system the choice was obvious. He went straight for a Pro-tools Mix System combined with Prism Sound ADA-8’s, which provided him with the clarity and performance he required. Now, only a couple of years on Jones has made another leap forward and has upgraded to HD, this decision was made a lot easier in the knowledge that he could continue to use his Prism Sound ADA-8’s thanks to their modular design, allowing him to purchase the relevant interface card and literally plug and play. At the same time he became interested in the Prism Sound Maselec range of Analogue equipment, on finding out that the Designer Leif Mases was one of the many reputable engineers that Led Zeppelin had worked with in the past. He tried the Maselec MEA-2 and MLA-2 and immediately fell in love with them. His choices were not made through smart advertising but his decision to go out and buy in his personal opinion, the things that sounded the best.
This has always been Prism Sound's philosophy to not only develop technically the best products, but also the best sounding products and it seems to be paying dividends.
