IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR EXISTING SADIE 6 USERS

You should continue to use the existing version of SADiE and additional downloads that you have installed. The Free version is not a direct upgrade or replacement for fully licensed SADiE 6 systems and should be treated as a separate, license free edition.

The free release is intended only for use on new computers that do not rely on certain legacy features or older, discontinued hardware. Support for key functionalities, such as CEDAR plugins and CD burning and reading has been removed (though DDP writing is still available). The bundled iZotope tools are no longer included in this version.

Additionally, while the FREE version remains compatible with BB2, BB2J, and LRX2 hardware, this should be approached with caution and only on a fresh system to avoid overwriting any existing licensed installation. This release does not support older SADiE hardware such as PCM4, PCM8, H8, H16, or H64.

Video Record/Replay Plug-in - Discontinued

SADiE has always included strong support for video post production applications, and in modern times many people are operating with video files for synchronising audio to picture.

The option to play back and record video inside SADiE can be added to any platform at varying levels:-

Software only - this adds the ability to import video files, as AVI or Quicktime files, and play them back in SADiE's timeline, viewing the picture in a window on the desktop.
Software and Matrox Parhelia card - the customised Matrox Parhelia card adds the ability to view an AVI video on an external composite monitor.
Video Sub-system - this option includes the Matrox Parhelia as well as hardware to capture video and encode to DV format.

The SADiE video system is important for most video post and syncing tasks, but also is being used for music recording and editing applications, where having a picture of the artists or conductor during the editing stage can provide information about the audio being edited.
