A/D and D/A conversion
Testing A/D and D/A conversion
As manufacturers of some of the most highly respected audio A/D and D/A converters in the professional audio industry, we designed the dScope Series III audio analyzer partly for our own ends, building in the features that we needed in order to be able to test and refine all the important parameters in D/A and A/D conversion.
The Prism Sound ADA-8XR Studio converter
The full capabilities of the dScope Series III which we use in the design and development of our converters are available to you - we haven't kept the best bits to ourselves. The dScope Series III audio analyzer provides digital generation and analysis from 32kHz to 192kHz sample rates and from 8 bits to 24bits and provides a wide range of clocking options.
In addition to the AES3, S/PDIF and TOSLINK digital connections on the dScope itself, the dScope software can connect to the Windows sound devices connected to its host computer directly for both generation and analysis. This makes it possible to directly evaluate the A/D or D/A converters in almost any audio device (sound card, blue-tooth headset etc.) that can be accessed via Windows.
For developing A/D and D/A converter sub-systems and prototyping, the dScope Series III can use the external VSIO digital serial interface adaptor to connect to a wide variety of serial interfaces at board level (eg, I2S) for both generation and analysis. This adaptor maps and converts the channels of serial digital audio data so that they can be fed to or from the dScope's AES3 digital I/O.
